IAEA chief meets with Iranian FM in Tehran

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest state of technical cooperation and interactions between Iran and the IAEA.
Referring to Iran's policy and determination to continue interacting and cooperating with the agency within the framework of international legal obligations, Araghchi underlined the need for the IAEA to play its professional and technical role in line with its responsibilities without being influenced by unjustified pressures from other parties.
The top Iranian diplomat also stressed the need for the IAEA to adopt a clear and transparent stance on threats against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities.
Araghchi further briefed the IAEA chief on the sanctions removal and nuclear talks between Iran and the US mediated by Oman.
Grossi, for his part, said he was pleased to have the opportunity to travel to Tehran and stressed the importance of continuing interaction and cooperation between Iran and the IAEA and consulting with other parties to create a suitable atmosphere to help resolve existing issues.
The IAEA chief also welcomed the start of indirect talks between Iran and the US.
Grossi reiterated the agency’s full support for the process, voicing hope that these talks will continue until a favourable outcome is achieved for both sides.
