The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to South Africa met with Ms. Moraka Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of South Africa elaborated on the dimensions of the brutal and unlawful aggression by the Zionist regime against Iran’s territory. This attack led to the martyrdom of several senior military commanders scientists academics women and children as well as the destruction of residential areas and nuclear infrastructure. He emphasized that this action is in clear violation of the UN Charter and has been carried out to escalate tensions in the Middle East and divert global attention from the crimes of this regime in Palestine.

In the meeting, Ambassador Shakib Mehr expressed appreciation to the South African government for issuing a statement condemning the aggression in the early hours following the attack. He stressed that the Zionist regime, which enjoys explicit military, intelligence, and logistical support from the US, attempted to silence media efforts by attacking the main headquarters of Iran’s national broadcasting organization (IRIB)—an effort to conceal both its past and ongoing crimes.

He further emphasized that the recent Israeli aggression against Iran is part of a broader pattern of brutal actions by the regime, including the attack on the Gaza Strip which led to the martyrdom of over 60,000 Palestinians, the attack on Iran’s embassy building in Damascus, and the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. He added that all of these acts are blatant violations of international norms and regulations, carried out under a kind of political impunity while international bodies remain silent—emboldening the regime to act even more brazenly in future aggressions.

The Iranian Ambassador in Pretoria highlighted the need for unified action among member states of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and BRICS within the framework of the Global South. He also emphasized that the recent resolution passed by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency has served as a pretext for the Tel Aviv regime to launch an attack on Iran.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa, Ms. Moraka, in turn, condemned the Zionist regime’s criminal actions and the martyrdom of Iranian military commanders and civilians. She reaffirmed that the government and people of the Republic of South Africa stand firmly alongside the government and people of Iran in pursuit of their lofty aspirations and in defense of the legitimate rights and demands of the Iranian nation. She stressed that the South African government and people condemn the inhumane acts of the apartheid Israeli regime against the nations of the region, particularly the people of Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran.

The meeting also included discussions and exchanges on various aspects of bilateral relations.
